Product description
Sacred smoke created from burning medicinal or sacred plants is an aspect of many cultures and religions the world over. In North America, it is a practice common to Indigenous Peoples and is called smudging. Much like lighting incense or using essential oils, one of the purposes behind burning smudge sticks is to cleanse negative energy and create a space with the right positive energy prior to meditating, practicing yoga, or any other type of ritual work.
You light the tip of a smudge stick, allow it to burn for a few moments, and then blow out the flame while still allowing the end to smolder and smoke. You can then either place sage smudge sticks in a fire-safe bowl, such as an abalone shell, to allow it to smoke freely, or you can hold it in your hand.
Our smudges are made in-house from dried lavender stalks and various herbs, flowers and plants found on our property and on Whidbey Island.
